Trimbakeshwar to Bhimashankar Distance: Why 237 km Fills an Afternoon
The two Jyotirlingas are about 237 km apart by road. If you have seen 95 km quoted, that is the straight-line distance across the Sahyadri — no road follows it. The real route comes down off the Bhimashankar ghat, runs north on the Pune–Nashik highway past Sangamner and Nashik, and climbs gently to Trimbak.
Our plan allows roughly three and a half hours with a lunch halt: you leave Bhimashankar at 11:30 AM and reach Trimbakeshwar at about 3:00 PM. The ghat descent can run slower in heavy rain or traffic. If it does, a later arrival still works, because the Shri Trimbakeshwar Devasthan Trust lists darshan until 9:00 PM (checked 15 Sep 2026). Either way, this leg is why Day 1 is roughly 14 hours door to door.
How Far Is Trimbakeshwar from Shirdi?
Trimbakeshwar to Shirdi is about 120 km via Nashik: 30 km down to Nashik, then 91 km through Sinnar to Shirdi. Other websites quote anything from 116 km to 155 km, depending on which roads they pick. We split this leg with the night in Nashik, so Day 2 starts with a short drive and reaches Shirdi at about 8:45 AM, with three hours for the queue. Phones and cameras are not allowed inside the samadhi mandir; the deposit counters outside add time at both ends.

Busiest Periods: Mahashivratri, Shravan and the Kumbh
Both Jyotirlingas are busiest on Mondays and through the month of Shravan, and Shirdi is busiest on Thursdays. Mahashivratri, on 6 March 2027, draws the largest gatherings of the year at Bhimashankar and Trimbakeshwar; for a quieter darshan, choose another day.
Trimbakeshwar is also one of the two sites of the Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh, held every 12 years; this one runs from 31 October 2026 to 24 July 2028 — so Mahashivratri 2027 falls inside the Kumbh period. On the Amrit Snan days in August and September 2027, private vehicles are to be kept out of Trimbakeshwar town; if your dates are near one, tell us when you book.
