The five Jyotirlingas of Maharashtra in four days, run in the order the geography actually allows: Bhimashankar and Trimbakeshwar on Day 1 with a halt at Nashik, Grishneshwar on Day 2 into Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Aundha Nagnath on Day 3 to Parbhani, and Parli Vaijnath on Day 4 before the long run home. Day 2 is deliberately the lightest day, which leaves room for Shirdi and the Ellora Caves as optional additions — take one, both or neither, decided on the morning rather than fixed in advance.

Shri Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga
Lord Shiva — Bhimashankar (6th of the twelve)The sixth Jyotirlinga and the source of the Bhima river, set deep in the Sahyadri hills. The nagara-style temple, with later Nana Phadnavis additions, marks where Lord Shiva is said to have slain the demon Tripurasura. The surrounding forest is a declared wildlife sanctuary and home to the Indian giant squirrel, Maharashtra's state animal.

The temple trust also runs an official online darshan pass on its own website, shreebhimashankar.com — book there directly rather than through any agent or third-party app. The trust relaxed the mandatory-booking rule in 2026 after devotees reported technical problems, and direct darshan has been allowed without registration since 18 June 2026. Abhishek and other poojas are arranged at the counter on the day. Hours changed several times in 2026 and the trust's website still shows a construction-period notice, so call the trust on 02135 222 880 before you travel.

- Modest attire with covered shoulders and full-length clothing for the sanctum. The hill setting is cold and misty — carry a layer even in summer.

- No photography of the garbhagriha or the Jyotirlinga. The outer temple and forest surroundings are fine.

- The temple sits below road level — roughly 200 descending steps from parking to the sanctum, then the same back up. This is the most physically demanding darshan of the five. Doli (palanquin) carriers are sometimes available at the top.

Shri Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga
Lord Shiva — Trimbakeshwar (10th of the twelve)The tenth Jyotirlinga, at the foot of Brahmagiri near Nashik, and the source of the Godavari. Uniquely the lingam here has three faces: Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. The present black-stone temple was built by Peshwa Balaji Baji Rao in the 18th century and is among the finest nagara buildings in Maharashtra. It is also one of the two sites of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela, held every 12 years. The next opens on 31 October 2026.

Book through the trust's own site rather than any agent. Note that Donation Darshan and Urgent Donation Darshan are closed on Mondays during Shravan. Narayan Nagbali, Kaalsarp Shanti and Tripindi poojas are arranged with the temple priests directly. Orbitmiles does not book darshan, poojas or accommodation.

- Sanctum entry for rituals has its own rules — men performing rituals typically enter bare-chested in a dhoti. For general darshan, modest full-length clothing is recommended. Inner-sanctum entry has restricted hours.

- A few steps to the temple platform; the courtyard is mostly step-free. Manageable for most. The Brahmagiri climb is a separate strenuous trek and is not part of a standard darshan.

Shri Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga
Lord Shiva — Grishneshwar (12th and last of the twelve)The twelfth and final Jyotirlinga, at Verul beside the Ellora Caves. The red-stone temple was rebuilt by Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore in the 18th century and is richly carved with dashavatara reliefs and a Nandi mandap. The legend of Kusuma, whose devotion restored her son to life, gives the shrine its name.

Shri Aundha Nagnath Jyotirlinga
Lord Shiva — Nagnath / NageshwarHeld by many in Maharashtra to be the Nageshwar Jyotirlinga, and traditionally counted as the first (aadya) Jyotirlinga established by the Pandavas during their exile. The hemadpanti stone temple is celebrated for its intricate exterior sculpture and carries deep ties to the Warkari and Mahanubhav traditions — saint Namdev is associated with the shrine. The Nageshwar identity is shared with Dwarka in Gujarat; on the Maharashtra circuit Aundha is the visited site.

Lord Shiva — Vaidyanath, the divine physicianRevered in Maharashtra as the Vaidyanath Jyotirlinga: Lord Shiva as the divine physician, associated with healing. The hemadpanti temple stands on a hill in Parli and was restored by Ahilyabai Holkar. Uniquely among the five, devotees may touch the lingam during darshan. The shrine is linked in legend to the Amrita of the ocean-churning and to Ravana's penance.

Mahashivratri and Shravan Mondays in particular turn a 90-minute darshan into a half-day one. What stays fixed is the list of temples — your driver adjusts the running plan on the road so every darshan fits. If a delay means a temple would be reached after closing, we tell you early and adjust with you rather than rush a darshan. Please keep the final evening flexible.
Shirdi and Ellora are optional, and that is deliberate
Day 2 is the lightest day of the four, which is what leaves room for them. Take both and Day 2 becomes a genuinely long day — Shirdi adds about 90 minutes with an unpredictable queue, Ellora two to three hours with a lot of walking. Take one, both or neither. Decide with your driver on the morning, when you know how the group is holding up, rather than committing the night before. Neither changes the fare.
Bhimashankar is the hardest darshan
The temple sits below road level, so it is around 200 steps down to the sanctum and the same back up, on Day 1 when the group has already been in the car since 4:30 AM. Anyone with knee trouble or a heart condition should plan to wait at the top. Doli carriers are sometimes available but cannot be guaranteed.
Day 1 and Day 4 are the long ones
Day 1 runs about 377 km with two demanding darshans; Day 4 is 415 km, most of it the return from Parli. Days 2 and 3 are deliberately lighter to balance them. If your group cannot manage two long days, tell us and we will quote a five-day version with an extra halt.
Leave time for Grishneshwar
Darshan queues at Grishneshwar vary, so plan for time at the temple. Day 2 takes the lunch halt at Verul and reaches the temple at about 2 PM, which is why it finishes later than it otherwise would, and why we do not recommend adding both optional stops on the same day. Timings can change on festival days and for special rituals; check the official listing before you travel.
Ellora Caves close on Tuesdays
If the Ellora option matters to you, avoid a Day 2 that falls on a Tuesday. Tell us your dates and we will flag it before you book. Grishneshwar itself is open every day.
We do not book your accommodation
All three halts — Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Parbhani — are yours to arrange. Nashik and Sambhajinagar have a wide choice; Parbhani is a smaller town, so book ahead rather than arriving and looking. Tell us where you are staying so the driver knows each morning's pickup point.
We are a cab service, not a tour operator
We provide the vehicle and driver. We do not arrange darshan passes, priests, poojas, guides, meals or accommodation, and we cannot shorten a darshan queue. The Trimbakeshwar poojas in particular — Narayan Nagbali, Kaalsarp, Tripindi — are arranged with the temple's priests directly, never through an agent.

Why four days and not five?
Because the fifth day was not buying anything. A conventional five-day plan parks a whole day on a 60 km round trip to Grishneshwar and an idle afternoon at Aurangabad. Folding Grishneshwar into the Nashik-to-Sambhajinagar run removes that day without lengthening any other one materially — you save a night's accommodation and a day of your own time, and the circuit still covers all five Jyotirlingas.
Which are the five Jyotirlingas on this circuit?
Bhimashankar in Pune district, Trimbakeshwar near Nashik, Grishneshwar at Verul beside the Ellora Caves, Aundha Nagnath in Hingoli district and Parli Vaijnath in Beed. These are the five of the twelve that lie in Maharashtra. Two of them — Nageshwar at Aundha and Vaidyanath at Parli — share their identity with sites in Gujarat and Jharkhand respectively; on the Maharashtra circuit these are the visited shrines.
Do you have a 3 Jyotirlinga tour package from Pune?
Not as a fixed package. Most Maharashtra 3 Jyotirlinga trips from Pune mean Bhimashankar, Trimbakeshwar and Grishneshwar, the three that many national lists place in the state. This 4-day package covers those three plus Aundha Nagnath and Parli Vaijnath for ₹34,999. Our 2-day package covers Bhimashankar and Trimbakeshwar with Shirdi, from ₹11,499. Can senior travellers manage this circuit?
Mostly, with one real caveat. Bhimashankar has around 200 steps down to the sanctum and back up, on Day 1 after an early start — that is the hardest part of the trip and anyone with knee or heart trouble should plan to wait at the top. Aundha Nagnath has a flight down to a sunken sanctum, though darshan from the upper level is possible. Grishneshwar and Trimbakeshwar are largely step-free. Parli involves a short hill climb.
Does the package include meals or accommodation?
No. The fare covers the vehicle, driver, fuel, tolls, parking and all three overnight driver halts. Your own accommodation on all three nights and all meals are arranged by you and paid on your own. Parbhani is a smaller town than the other two halts, so book that one ahead rather than arriving and looking.
Can you book the Trimbakeshwar poojas for us?
No. Narayan Nagbali, Kaalsarp and Tripindi shanti poojas are arranged with the Trimbakeshwar temple's priests directly, not through an agent. We are a cab service and are not affiliated with any temple trust. Your driver will get you there in good time for a booking you have made yourself.
Is the fare fixed?
Yes. Tolls, parking, fuel and all three driver halts are inside the quoted figure, and there is no surge pricing on any date. The optional Shirdi and Ellora stops do not change it either. The only variable is if you ask to add a stop that is not on the route.
Can you pick us up from Pune Airport?
Yes. We pick you up directly from Pune Airport with 30 minutes of free waiting included — share your flight number when you book and we plan the pickup around it. Given the 4:30 AM Day 1 start, most guests flying in prefer to arrive the night before. This package starts from Pune only; we do not run it from Mumbai or Navi Mumbai airports.
Is this a one-way or round-trip fare?
Round trip. The package starts and ends at your door in Pune (or at Pune Airport), and the fare covers the drive back. If you only need a one-way drop to the temple town, message us on WhatsApp and we will quote it separately.
