The gas cylinder is mounted in the boot floor. It is a round steel tank that takes up most of the usable depth, so a full-size check-in bag often will not lie flat. Bags end up on laps or on the seat.
The battery is a flat pack under the cabin floor. The boot is untouched — full depth, flat floor, square shape. You get the space the car was designed to have.
