The route is a loop: out along the highway through Ahilyanagar (Ahmednagar) to Shani Shingnapur, north to Shirdi, and back to Pune — about 160 + 80 + 200 km. Roughly eight of the sixteen hours are spent in the car. The rest belongs to the two darshans, lunch, and whatever the Shirdi queue asks of you.
Which Temple First, and Why
We suggest Shani Shingnapur first, for three reasons.
The morning queue is short. Arriving around 9:30 AM puts you ahead of the mid-morning rush, and 90 minutes is usually enough for darshan, including the walk from parking.
The Shirdi queue needs room. It can take 45 minutes on a quiet day and more than three hours on a busy one. Placing Shirdi in the middle of the day gives it the elastic part of the schedule, so a long queue pushes your return a little later instead of squeezing the second darshan.
The heat. The swayambhu idol of Shani Dev stands in the open, and the platform around it has no shade. It is far kinder to elderly family members at 9:30 AM than at 3 PM.

A note on Shirdi: many websites list the temple as opening at 4:00 AM, with the Kakad aarti at 4:30 AM and the Shej aarti at 10:30 PM. The Sansthan's own daily programme on sai.org.in gives 4:45 AM for the temple opening, 5:15 AM for Kakad and 10:00 PM for Shej (checked 15 Sep 2026). We follow the Sansthan. Because the Dhoop aarti is timed to sunset, it moves through the year. For Shani Shingnapur, the Devasthan lists 4:00 AM to 10:30 PM — not "open 24 hours", as some pages claim. Thursday and Saturday: the Two Busiest Days
Each temple has its own day of the week. Thursday is Shri Sai Baba's day, and Shirdi draws its largest weekly gatherings then. Saturday is Shani Dev's day, and Shani Shingnapur is at its busiest. Choose either day and one of your two darshans takes longer.

That leaves Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday as the days when neither temple is at its weekly peak. Thursdays and Saturdays are deeply meaningful to many devotees, and if that is why you are going, go — just allow a later return. For a quieter darshan, choose another day. The Shani Oil Rule, and What Else to Carry
Oil for the abhishek must be packaged and branded. Since 1 March 2025 the temple accepts only sealed, labelled edible oil for offering to Shani Dev; loose oil sold in bottles by roadside vendors is turned away at the entrance. If you plan to offer oil, buy a sealed pack in Pune the day before.
Phones stay outside at Shirdi. Phones and cameras are not allowed inside the samadhi mandir. Deposit counters are outside the complex, and they add a little time at each end of the darshan.
Dress modestly. Shirdi asks for full-length clothing with shoulders covered. At Shani Shingnapur, traditional attire is the safe choice for the platform.
Book passes only on the official portal. Free darshan is always available in the general queue at both temples. Paid darshan and aarti passes at Shirdi are sold by the Sansthan at online.sai.org.in. The Shani Shingnapur Devasthan says it has not authorised any online puja app.
What the Day Costs by Cab
Our one-day fare is fixed per vehicle, whatever the day of the week: ₹6,499 in the MG ZS EV (4 seats), ₹7,999 in the Kia Clavis EV (6 seats) and ₹10,999 in the Toyota Innova Hycross (6 seats). Tolls, parking, charging or fuel and the driver's allowance are all included. Being electric does not make the car toll-free on this route — the tolls are simply already inside the fare.

Is One Day Too Much?
For most families it is a long but manageable day. The hardest part is not the driving; it is the early start and the unknown length of the Shirdi queue. Shirdi has wheelchairs and a separate queue for senior citizens — ask at the entrance. If anyone in your group tires easily, the same route works well over two days with a night in Shirdi; tell us your dates and we will quote it separately.
