How many hours before an international flight to reach T2
The Mumbai airport operator asks international passengers to reach the airport 4 hours before departure (CSMIA departure guide). Add the 2.5 to 3 hour drive from Pune and 30 minutes spare, and the car leaves Pune 7 to 7.5 hours before the time on your ticket.
Many international flights leave T2 between midnight and 5 AM, so the pickup is often on the evening before the date printed on the ticket. For a 2 AM flight on the 12th, the car comes on the 11th between 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM. Book the pickup date, not the flight date.
Use the earlier time if you live in Kharadi, Wagholi, Hadapsar or Hinjewadi, or if the drive reaches Mumbai between about 5 and 9 PM. The airport pickup time calculator works it out for your area.

After you land: immigration, customs and finding your driver
Book the pickup about 45 minutes after your scheduled landing, for immigration, bags and customs, and allow 2.5 to 3 hours for the drive. Land at 2:10 AM and the pickup is 2:55 AM, with you in Pune between 5:25 AM and 5:55 AM on an empty road. Daytime landings take longer, because the car leaves Mumbai through city traffic. Each region's arrivals page lists the landing times with the pickup and in-Pune times worked out.
- Immigration. Have your passport and visa ready, plus the e-Arrival card QR code if you travel on a foreign passport. Indian passport and OCI holders enrolled in the government's Fast Track Immigration programme (FTI-TTP) can use the e-gates.
- Baggage. The screens in the hall show your belt.
- Customs. Use the green channel if you have nothing to declare and the red channel if you do. Under the Baggage Rules, 2026, goods worth up to ₹75,000 come in duty-free for residents, tourists of Indian origin and foreigners on a non-tourist visa, and up to ₹25,000 for tourists of foreign origin, plus one new laptop for each passenger aged 18 or over. Up to 2 litres of alcohol and up to 100 cigarettes can come under that allowance, and family members cannot pool their allowances (CBIC traveller guide).
- Arrival hall. Walk out of the arrival hall to the multi-level car park, where the airport keeps pre-arranged transport.
- Level 5, general parking. Your driver meets you here. Call him on the number we sent on WhatsApp and he will guide you to the car.
How long from landing to the car? Mumbai airport does not publish an immigration time. We plan 45 minutes from the scheduled landing to walking out of the arrival hall, which covers immigration, the belt and customs on a busy international bank. If you travel on a foreign or OCI passport, file the e-Arrival card before you fly: travel guides report that passengers who arrive without one are sent to kiosks near immigration to fill it in, which adds time at busy hours.
Give us a pickup time about 45 minutes after your scheduled landing, and your flight number. We track the flight, and if it lands late the pickup moves with it. The first 30 minutes of waiting are free, counted from the scheduled pickup time. The driver's name, phone number and car number reach you on WhatsApp before pickup. Flow based on the CSMIA arrival guide.
e-Arrival card (OCI and foreign passports)
Foreign passport holders, including OCI cardholders, must file an e-Arrival card online within 72 hours before landing, on the Indian visa portal or the Su-Swagatam app. It gives you a QR code for immigration, and one form can cover up to five family members. If you are bringing parents or children on foreign passports, file for them too.
Indian passport holders and OCI cardholders can enrol in the government's Fast Track Immigration programme (FTI-TTP) and use e-gates at Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Biometrics are taken at the airport or an FRRO office, and approval can take up to a month, so apply well before the trip.
Is your flight from T2 or Navi Mumbai?
Almost every international flight from the Mumbai area uses T2 (code BOM), including all long-haul flights to the US, Canada, Europe, Japan, Singapore and Australia. Navi Mumbai airport (code NMI) has one international route: Air India Express to Abu Dhabi, flying since 15 July 2026. If your ticket says NMI, book the Pune to Navi Mumbai Airport cab instead. It is a shorter drive, with fares from ₹2,500.
A 1 AM pickup is a normal job for us
About half of T2's international flights are scheduled between 10 PM and 6 AM, and it shows in our bookings: about half of our T2 pickups happen between 10 PM and 6 AM. The driver's name, phone number and car number reach you on WhatsApp before pickup, and the fare is the same at any hour.
Our most common T2 pickup and drop areas are Baner, Hadapsar, Kharadi, Pimpri, Bavdhan, Kondhwa, Aundh, Balewadi and Kothrud, and we pick up anywhere in Pune. Two in three of our T2 trips run in an SUV or MPV, because international luggage needs the space.
Weekends are our busiest days at T2, at about 1.6 times a midweek day, so book early for a Saturday or Sunday flight. About half of our T2 trips are booked less than two days ahead, and same-day bookings work too when a car is free: call +91 90676 76369 to check.
Luggage on long-haul flights: which car
Long-haul tickets often allow two large check-in bags each, so two people can easily carry four. Each arrivals page has the full seats-and-bags table.
- Innova Hycross, for families with bags. Our most premium car, with the most comfortable seating after a long flight. A six-seat hybrid: 2 check-in plus 2 cabin bags with all six seats in use, or 4 check-in plus 4 cabin bags for four passengers with the third row folded. Innova Hycross cab
- Kia Clavis EV. Our electric six-seater: 4 large check-in bags plus 4 cabin bags for four passengers with the third row folded. Kia Clavis EV cab
- Citroën ë-C3. Our cheapest car, electric, with 2 check-in plus 2 cabin bags: right for two travellers. Citroën ë-C3 cab
Fares (fixed, any hour)
- An Orbitmiles Pune to Mumbai Airport cab costs a fixed fare from ₹2,700 one way in the Citroën EC3, with 150 km included.
- The fare is all-in. The driver, the charging or fuel and the Expressway toll are included, there is no surge pricing, and there is nothing extra to confirm on a call.
- Orbitmiles' fixed ₹2,700 fare already includes the Mumbai–Pune Expressway toll: ₹320 one-way for a car, and ₹0 for our three electric cars, which are toll-exempt in Maharashtra. The hybrid Innova Hycross pays the toll, and that is inside its fare too.
- The first 30 minutes of waiting are free, counted from the scheduled pickup time.
- You pay after the ride, by UPI, card or cash. Nothing is charged in advance.
- Cancellation is free if you cancel more than 4 hours before pickup.
- For heavy luggage, book a six-seater. The Kia Clavis EV takes 4 large check-in bags plus 4 cabin bags with 4 passengers and the 3rd row folded, or 4 cabin bags only with all 6 seats in use. The Toyota Innova Hycross takes 4 large check-in bags plus 4 cabin bags with 4 passengers and the 3rd row folded, or 2 large check-in bags plus 2 cabin bags with all 6 seats in use.
Full fares by car are on the Pune to Mumbai Airport cab fare and Mumbai Airport to Pune cab fare pages.
Other ways to Pune: connecting flight, bus, train
- Connecting flight. Mumbai and Pune are only about 150 km apart, so check whether a flight even runs on your date. A connection means collecting and re-checking your bags, possibly a move to another terminal, the domestic reporting time, and then a ride home from Pune airport at Lohegaon.
- Bus. MSRTC runs Shivneri buses between Mumbai and Pune, but they do not start at the terminal, so you first need a ride to a boarding point with your bags. Routes and timings are on the MSRTC website.
- Train. Trains to Pune leave from Mumbai's main railway stations, not the airport, so this also needs a ride across the city first. Timings are on Indian Railways.
- Cab. From T2 to your door in 2.5 to 3 hours, at a fixed ₹2,700 per car with the toll included, at any hour. Four people sharing the car pay about ₹675 each.
For one person with light bags on a daytime landing, the bus is cheaper. After a long-haul flight with family and check-in bags, the cab is usually the simpler choice.

Mumbai T2 international flights: common questions
4 hours before departure. That is what the Mumbai airport operator (CSMIA) advises for international flights, against 2 hours for domestic. Airlines usually close check-in an hour before departure, and immigration and security sit between check-in and the gate, so arriving later leaves little room for a queue.
The terminal entry gates check a boarding pass or e-ticket, so have one on your phone or on paper. The airport asks international passengers to arrive 4 hours before departure, and many airlines open check-in about then: Virgin Atlantic, for example, opens it 4 hours before and closes it 1 hour before.
Subtract 7 to 7.5 hours from the departure time on your ticket: 4 hours at the airport, 2.5 to 3 hours of driving and 30 minutes spare. For a 2 AM flight that means leaving Pune between 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM the day before. Take the earlier time if your drive reaches Mumbai in the evening rush or you live on the far side of Pune, such as Kharadi, Wagholi or Hadapsar.
The airport does not publish a figure. We plan 45 minutes from the scheduled landing to walking out of the arrival hall, which covers immigration, the belt and customs on a busy international bank. Arriving on a foreign or OCI passport without a filed e-Arrival card can add time, because travel guides report those passengers are sent to kiosks to fill it in.
At Level 5 general parking in the T2 multi-level car park. Come through immigration, collect your bags, clear customs and walk out of the arrival hall to the car park. The driver's name, phone number and car number reach you on WhatsApp before pickup, so call him when you are out and he will tell you exactly where he is parked.
Yes, on request. Ask for it when you book and the driver will hold a board with your name. Without one, the usual pickup is the one above: the driver's details reach you on WhatsApp and you call him once you are out of customs.
About 45 minutes after your scheduled landing, which is how long immigration, bags and customs usually take on a busy international bank. The first 30 minutes of waiting are free, counted from the scheduled pickup time. We track the flight, and if it lands late the pickup moves with it.
Yes. Foreign passport holders, OCI cardholders included, must file an e-Arrival card online within 72 hours before landing, on indianvisaonline.gov.in/earrival or the Su-Swagatam app. It produces a QR code for immigration, and one form can cover up to five family members.
Check the airport code on your ticket. BOM is Mumbai T2. NMI is Navi Mumbai airport, whose only international route is Air India Express to Abu Dhabi. NMIA is a shorter drive from Pune, with fares from ₹2,500.
Not with us. Orbitmiles runs private cabs only: the whole car is yours, at one fixed fare per car from ₹2,700 whatever the hour, so you never share with strangers or wait for other passengers to clear immigration.
Usually not, unless the timings line up well. A domestic connection means collecting and re-checking your bags, possibly moving to another terminal, reaching the gate well before that flight and then a ride home from Pune airport. The cab goes from T2 to your door in 2.5 to 3 hours. The other ways to Pune section compares the options.
An app cab is booked when you walk out, at that moment's price, and the expressway toll is added on top of its fare. A pre-booked Orbitmiles cab has a fixed fare from ₹2,700 with the toll included, the driver's name, phone number and car number reach you on WhatsApp before pickup, and the pickup follows your flight if it lands late. More in pre-booked cab vs app cab at the airport.
Two travellers with two big suitcases fit the Citroën EC3 or MG ZS EV (2 check-in plus 2 cabin bags). If you carry more, book the Kia Clavis EV or Toyota Innova Hycross: with four passengers and the third row folded, each takes 4 large check-in bags plus 4 cabin bags, all inside the car. Tell us the bag count when you book.
No. The fare is fixed, from ₹2,700 with 150 km and the expressway toll included, and it is the same at 2 AM as at 2 PM. Our three electric cars pay ₹0 toll because they are exempt in Maharashtra. You pay after the ride.
